Medical Professionals in the Fight, Feat. Paula Fortin

Victims of trafficking carry with them a combination of severe psychological and physical health problems. Which is why it is almost certain that a victim will interact with a medical professional during their experience at some point.

We invited special guests, Nurse Practitioner Paula Fortin, and Fierce Freedom Survivor Advocate Amanda Casey to share their expertise on the subject and recommendations for those in the medical community to recognize and help victims.

Amanda also shares how her experience as a trafficked woman led to interactions with medical professionals and what she wishes could’ve been done for her.

Both guests discuss the importance of encouraging healthy physical boundaries in a clinical setting and the home, and how to screen for trafficking in teens.

Ending the Game Feat. Rachel Thomas

Today’s episode features guest Rachel Thomas, an author, speaker, educator, survivor of trafficking and member of the National Advisory Council of Human Trafficking.

Rachel shares some highlights from the The President’s Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (PITF) as well as her how her unique story of trafficking and exploitation ultimately led her to creation of Ending the Game, a curriculum that works to reduce recidivism in trafficked victims by breaking bonds of attachment to traffickers and “The Game” lifestyle.

She also is debuting her new “Cool Aunt” video series geared towards educating youth and teens about “the life” and how they can keep themselves safe.

Brain Heart World Documentary

As part of Fight the New Drug’s campaign #NoPornNovember we wanted to highlight their FREE 3-part series which unpacks porn’s effect on the brain, heart, and world.

The series does a great job of explaining the science behind porn addiction, and begins a dependency in the individual, leading to disconnection from those around us and ultimately with our world.

Host John Pulley relates these effects to his own journey through addiction and what it looked like for him – and both hosts give some insight as to how an affected individual can move towards a recovered and healed life.
